As children many of you had pretty vivid imaginations and loved to talk about how you would do things when you grew up.
Everything that you thought of was always on a much grander scale then the actual event at that time. With boys it was always about being better than _____ (insert your own thought here)...usually better than a certain race car driver or football player. Girls tended to make it more of a fantasy setting such as being the most beautiful princess in all the land and hosting grand balls in the castle,
As you started growing older you may have realized none of it was going to happen, at least not in the way you had always envisioned it. One of the great things about being an adult is realizing it’s never too late to make it happen. Ok, maybe not exactly like you wanted but as close as possible.
You work hard to provide and care for your family, sometimes even to the point of no “you” time. Of course some of you have been programmed to believe that there will be time enough later to do these things. The problem with later is that sometimes it never comes. So try combining a little “me” time with a little “them” time and host that grand ball.
Think about how lovely you can make your castle, something that everyone will enjoy and you will be creating fantastic memories at the same time. Consider some of these ideas when planning your decorations and don’t be afraid that you will over-do it, isn’t that actually the whole idea?
Imagine a carriage pulling up in front of your castle and the occupants are literally gasping at the gorgeous clear lights that are decorating every outline as well as the trees. You greet them at the door dressed in a beautiful all white gown trimmed in satin and your prince beside you in a white tuxedo. Present each lady with a white rose corsage and the gentlemen with a white rose boutonnière.
When they step inside, there will be brilliant white decorations everywhere, again eliciting a gasp of wonder.
A huge Christmas tree stands in one corner, decorated with white satin bows, white sparkling ornaments and a beautiful angel, dressed in all white like her wings, sitting atop the tree. Your curtains have been replaced with white lace netting and held back with white ribbons. White poinsettias are lined all around the room along with sprigs of mistletoe.
The music of of the troubadours fills the banquet hall enlightening the hearts of the couples as the dance around the tree. From foxtrots to waltzes they gracefully transition with twirls and flourishes and twinkles welcoming the holiday and embracing the new year. Changing partners brings giggles and bows as as the dancers build the warmth of the evening and this fabulous social event to its crescendo and grand finale.
Your table has a crisp white linen cloth across it with several satin bows along the side. Your centrepiece, an ice-sculpted swan, is the focal point of the table, sitting in a pond with gardenias and white votive candles floating in the water. Your buffet spread across the table includes white caviar on white toast, sautéed white mushrooms amid the linguine in white clam sauce. For desert there is rice pudding, white chocolate mousse and strawberries to be dipped into white chocolate fondue.
Your night is ending and everyone is raving about this spectacular event that you put together. After the last guest has left your prince takes your hand and leads you up the white marble staircase, ok maybe that part is a little bit over the top, but you both agree it has been a magical night and you didn’t even lose your glass slipper.
