Great Cheap Dates

You might not be a millionaire, but that doesn't mean that you can't have a great date. There are many cheap date ideas which are every bit as romantic as an expensive date.

Each of these dates will cost you less than $20, but still impress the person you care about

A home-cooked candlelight meal. Candlelight meals are very romantic and your sweetie will appreciate it so much more if you are cooking the meal yourself. An Italian-themed meal is easy enough for just about anyone to cook. Are you a disaster in the kitchen? Cooking together can be fun and help bring you closer.

Go to a museum. While some museums can be a bit pricey, there are other less well-known museums that are much less expensive. It can be fun to go to an obscure museum and see what's there. After all, everyone's been to the Museum of Modern Art but how many people have been to the Museum of Buttons?

Go on a driving adventure. Pack up a lunch and take a drive. When you reach an intersection, flip a coin to see which way you should turn. Who knows where you might end up? If you can't find a good place to get out of the car and eat, why not eat right in the car?

Stay in and watch a movie. Sometimes there's nothing quite like a quiet night at home. Rent a movie, pop some popcorn, pour a drink and snuggle up with your honey. It might not be as spectacular of an experience as an actual theater, but it's definitely more comfortable.

Have dessert and coffee. Don't have the money for a five-course meal at the most expensive restaurant in town? Make a stop for dessert and coffee only. This will let you experience the luxuriousness of the restaurant without having to pay the hefty price tag.

Go for a walk. It sounds cliche, but going for a walk is one of the ultimate cheap dates. It puts you in touch with nature, gets you moving, and allows you to have great conversations. Additionally, being active releases endorphins that make you happy (and feel more sexy).

Check out the second-run theater. If you want the movie experience without the high cost, check out what's playing at your local second-run theater. There are often some fun movies that you wouldn't have paid full price for, but seem more reasonable at the second-run theater. These theaters often show movies for less than $5 (Sometimes even just $1!)

Attend a local festival. Scour your local newspapers so that you'll know what local festivals are coming up. You never know when there'll be a "Sauerkraut Festival" or an "Africa Day". Many festivals are free of charge...you just have to know when and where they are.

A good date doesn't have to break the bank. The important thing is that you are spending time with the person that you care about.
