Depression
Stress is defined as a psychological and physical response to the demand of everyday life, that go beyond a person’s ability to cope. Stress manifests itself as depression. The symptoms of depression are episodes of unhappiness, sadness, or grief.
Scientist have recently found out that Depression Can Leave Molecular Scars. In addition to triggering social withdrawal syndrome, repeated defeats cause enduring "molecular scar" in its brain that could help to explain why depression is so difficult to cure.
Clinical depression affects 19 million Americans yearly. It contributes to almost half of all suicides. 5-10 percent of women and 2-5 percent of men will experience at least one major depression episode during their adult life.
Now the good news
Treatment can be as simple as changes in lifestyle and behavior. I like the quote "If you find yourself in a rut, get your foot off the gas" That means if you find your self stressing out or slipping into depression. Then stop what you are doing find some free time and take a mini vacation.
Try to identify and focus on activities that make you feel better. It is important to do things for yourself. Don't isolate yourself. Take part in activities even when you may not want to. Such activity may actually make you feel better.
Don't keep pushing and push when you feel yourself getting down, stop and take a break. Yes it is very tough to stop when you feel yourself sliding down hill. Just remember the calendar has 7 days in a week and one of these are set aside for "Rest" use it be, it at your local church or by taking a mini vacation.
Springfield MO has such a large selection of activities and tours available that it would be almost impossible to not find something to do. Not to say that you will choose not to them but as it was said above "Take part in activities even when you may not want to" pick out something to do even if you don't feel that you will like it, just do something. Sometime just doing something will shake you out of the depression and relieve the stress that was building up, and as a side note you may find a new "hobby".
If you happen to find an activity or tour or new restaurant that is not listed or reviewed here at Moactive.com the please post a quick review and it will be added to help others find new things to do in Springfield MO.
