Fire on Homewood

in

A house fire here in Springfield on north Homewood apparently caused by a air conditioner has destroyed everything the family owns.

The home is more then a shelter to the family that lives here, 2 adults and one teen daughter it has been a home for many years and several generations.

This is a family home that has been lived in by family members since 1946? - 1947? it was built on the the family homestead by the Grandfather for his children. Even though it wasn't a new home it had "heart" and contained memories going back to better times.

The Original family name was Boyce (now Medley) and they had been living on that property (Fullbright side) since before the depression and due to hard times they gradually sold bits of it off. Holding on to the section of land going from Fullbright on through to Homewood. Two houses currently share that lot with the Burned out husk that remains.

The front house is currently in the middle of being repossessed due to the loss of the younger brother to cancer a year ago and his wife is unable to keep up with the variable rate mortgage they used to pay for his medical expenses.

The middle home is currently vacant because the oldest sister is having medical problems and finance issues so she is moving in with her oldest son.

This house fire may not be a last straw for this family but it sure adds to the current stress that is why I thought I would tell everyone about the story behind the story. This family though not well off by any means matter of fact they are low income and currently unemployed. Has survived a multitude of hardships and could really use a hand up.

I have added a button below to paypal that you can use to donate a bit to help them up. Please do not use it if you feel that this people should not ask for help or that people should tough it out. I have placed it here because if feel a couple of bucks donated to help a family in trouble goes a long way towards building a better community. After all if you can't help out a neighbor then what neighbor will help you or yours later on.

Donate what you would like all donations will be given to the family for basic needs etc..
