Personal success is the process of achieving self improvement you start the process by defining what is most important to you. Your end values are what all your actions are supposed to satisfy. All of our actions are means to an end. By learning what, in the end, is the purpose of your actions clarifies what you do. Harmony and fulfilment are examples of end values that matter in and of themselves. There's no deeper motive for having harmony and fulfilment, they are ends in themselves. Learn what your own end values are by questioning yourself about what end each action you take is intended to reach.
Develop a balance of activities in your life. All work and no play can lead to a heart attack. All play and no work means being broke all the time. Once you know your own end values, take the time to allot your daily schedule to reflect those values. Work, play, exercise, sleep, family and service to others all need to be planned and timed effectively.
You also need to examine your life for wasted time and unnecessary distractions and annoyances. Work to eliminate as many time-wasters in your life as possible. For example, if you're checking your email more than ten times a day, you may be using email as an excuse to avoid doing important but uncomfortable work. Devote most of your time at work to doing the most uncomfortable part first. That is usually the most important part.
Make sure you reward yourself on a regular basis. Unrewarding work can create long-term, unrelieved stress. Even something as simple as taking a short break will defuse the stress and make it easier to resume the work with more energy and enthusiasm. Doing things for yourself that are designed to give you pleasure and satisfaction on a regular basis increases your self-esteem. Be kind to yourself - you may be the only person who does so all day!
One of the best measures of success is how often and how much you give to others without expecting a direct return. Try giving to others and expecting a return from an unexpected source. Your generosity will be rewarded in ways you cannot imagine. The only way to prove this is so is to invest a part of you in advance.
